October is officially in full swing! Actually, it's over halfway through. How did that even happen? It seems like just a few weeks ago I was making the transition to D.C. and griping about the incessantly sticky weather. Since then, the summer heat has trailed off (a welcomed gesture) and I've become a full-fledged Washingtonian consumed by the 9 to 5 grind.

Blogging has taken a backseat in my life recently, and as a result, I've neglected to produce new content. In an effort to hold myself more accountable, I've decided to write a monthly series (i.e. "lately") about my current musings. Enjoy!

Wearing: This week I finally transitioned my closest from summer to fall - a true indication that summer's over. While I'm thankful for the break in humidity, by no means am I ready for winter. I've been pairing skirts and sweaters to take advantage of the transitional weather... and also to avoid having to wear dress pants to work for as long as possible. After searching  for half an eternity, I've finally found the perfect fisherman sweater. I'm thinking about adding the navy version to my closet, too!

Watching: Food documentaries on Netflix. Admittedly, I've probably seen a good number of the food-based documentaries available for viewing on Netflix. I'm fascinated by the ways in which America's political climate influences the agricultural industry and the implications those relationships produces. I recently watched Cowspiracy, a great eye-opening film on the sustainability of livestock production. I'm also a big fan of The Office, and am sad to say I'm nearing the end of the series!

Consuming: Brunch. It's a sport here in the District. I've tried a host of different restaurants and am 100% reliant on this fabulous little website I stumbled upon for the best recommendations. My secret? Bitches Who Brunch. While the site currently only features brunch spots in D.C., Chicago and NYC, it's worth a read if you're traveling to one of the aforementioned cities.

Coveting: Everything - recently, my wish list has grown much too long. Last year I couldn't quite pull the trigger on this Barbour jacket and it's been on my mind ever since! This season I'm really loving this quilted jacket, too. I've also had my eye on this pair of Frye riding boots. For now, it seems most of my wants will exist virtually on my coveting Pinterest board rather than physically in my closet. Wishful thinking!
