It's Official

View of Lincoln Memorial from Washington Monument
It happened. I've officially made the cross-country move from Wisconsin to Washington (D.C., that is). I've had some time to get settled in, explore and catch up on some long overdue sleep. By my standards, it's been terribly hot - mid 90's are the norm, and I won't even get started on the humidity... but I'm sure in a few months' time I'll be complaining about the cold. I just can't win this argument. I stopped by the Washington Monument the other day and snapped a few photos. Man, was it ever windy! The wind was a welcome break from the heat, but it sure made for a comical bunch of photos.

Moving on - I've gotten used to riding the metro (i.e. subway) and am trying to be more conscious of keeping hand sanitizer stashed in my bag. I won't lie, public transportation is a bit gross. Convenience wise, it's great. Not so much in terms of hygiene. I've been walking significantly more than I had been in Madison and my feet have been killing me. I have a bit of a commute to work so I've been thinking about investing in some good "commuting" shoes. Comfortable shoes are a non-neogitable for me, so I've been doing a lot of research into what styles are put-together and professional but won't leave my feet crying by mid-afternoon. Scroll through the widget below to see what I've got my eye on!
